Thor in 2010

Hollywood had adapted many stories of Marvel superheroes in the last few years. But till then one was definitely missing: The Mighty Thor.

Seems like the son of Odin, the Norse warrior, is going to have his own movie quite soon.

Indeed screenwriter Mark Protosevich has been writing a script for a live-action Thor film. According to him: "It's going to be like a superhero origin story, but not one about a human gaining super powers, but of a God realizing his true potential. [...] It will be mythic, but also bear the unmistakable qualities of a Marvel movie, an epic fantasy adventure."

The movie will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Filming should start in late 2009. For now director Kenneth Branagh and screenwriter Mark Protosevich are streamlining the initial Thor script in order to bring down the budget from a first astronomic $300 million to a more manageable $150 million.

Here what has leaked from the plot:
"Partially disabled medical student Dr. Donald Blake discovers his heretofore unknown alter ego, the Norse warrior, Thor." (Source: IMDb)

I'm glad they adapt this Marvel comics superhero. I hope they will stick enough to the orginal story of the mighty Thor.
:)

I'm First! LOL. From what I heard Triple H is supossed to play the role of Thor. Not a bad choice if you ask me. Blond hair, and muscles, just like Thor.

That could work! ha ha
Looking forward to it.

First of all Thor is not a warrior, he is a GOD. The God of Thunder to be exact. He is also not a superhero, and ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be portrayed as a disabled medical student. I mean really, a MEDICAL STUDENT? come on, this movie also SHOULD not, and CANNOT be set in modern day. It would be acceptable if the story were more like this (and don't even TRY to say that I'm not even a screenwriter because I don't care) Thor pisses off Oden (and yes that IS how it's spelled) somehow and is sent to earth to pay pennance (in Viking times I should add)and becomes a kind hearted god who protects mankind from various evils.

Personally I think the only way they can do justice to Thor is to use CG. As long as they don't use that stupid axe/hammer thing either way.

I will hold my judgement until after I see the movie. but you know it will be held in Modern times if Donald Blake(Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster( Natalie Portman) are going to be there, and who knows maybe it will start in Viking times and then move forward.....and if anybody has notice or not Triple H has been carrying around a Hammer as of late.....bring on the Thunder and the Lighting, bring on Mighty Thor.

Justice League was a DC super hero team... Thor was in the Avengers. Also you need to have Thor's hammer in the movie or otherwise nown as Mjölnir.

To the doofus quoting strict Norse mythology.....IT IS A MARVEL COMIC ADAPATION movie....not a Norse mythology movie....so he will most likely be a medical student and it will be set in modern times. Go pick up a comic book.....and if you don't like it....don't watch it. Personally I can't wait....Marvel movies are awesome and it is about time they did Thor. Yay.

not sure triple H has the acting skills to pull it off, i'm an old timer comic fan and am excited to see how marvel puts together this whole series with iron man, the hulk, and eventually the avengers,, i hope they tell the actual story of how thor came to earth and how dr. donald blake came upon the hammer and became thor,, that would be the story to tell

I'm hoping they get the costume right. so far it looks a little too futuristic. Hopefully it'll be good. Liked Iron man and Hulk (ed norton). Thor was a marvel favorite as well. hope the movie won't disappoint. Still waiting for marvel to redo xmen and wolverine (wolverine really sucked and xmen was sub-par to the comic. Come on marvel if you want to make even more money keep it true to the comic or at least the spirit of the comic.
